When choosing a service, there are things you can't understand just from the official website's description. What do actual users find convenient, and what are their concerns?
In this article, PATOLO's management directly interviewed Mr. A, a male member who uses both Universe Club and PATOLO.
In addition to highlighting aspects that users found easy to use, we will also share candid comments about discrepancies between the information provided beforehand and the actual experience, along with the management's response to these comments.
[Editor's Note]
This article is based on an interview with Mr. A (pseudonym, 40s), a male member who uses both Universe Club and PATOLO. The content reflects Mr. A's personal experience and views and does not represent an overall evaluation of PATOLO users or general trends. This content was produced by PATOLO management. Details of the interview are provided at the end of the article.
The reasons for starting to use both services and how to differentiate their uses.
First, could you tell us how you started using PATOLO?
Mr. A: I had never used a service like this before. I first registered with Universe Club, and during the registration process, they also introduced me to PATOLO, so I registered for both at the same time.
Rather than having any particular resolve, it started more like I tried the other option as part of the process I was guided through.
Were there any concerns you had before starting?
Mr. A: I was a little worried about the fact that clubs other than the Universe Club were also included. I couldn't tell what kind of people were registered.
Were there any aspects that differed from your expectations after actually using it?
Mr. A: Yes, there was. I noticed that the trends among the members were more varied than I had expected. It's not a matter of good or bad, but rather that it was different from what I had anticipated.
Currently, both are being used in parallel. Which method of introduction is more common for long-term relationships?
Mr. A: To be honest, most of the people I've been in long-term relationships with were introduced to me through Universe Club. I also use PATOLO, but so far, I haven't had many cases where things progressed that far.
What I found convenient was the ability to communicate directly and how to manage time.
Are there any aspects that you feel are unique to PATOLO?
Mr. A: The best thing is that you can exchange messages directly through the app. Being able to contact the other person directly is a convenience that Universe Club doesn't offer.
Did you have any trouble using the app?
Mr. A: No, that's not true. It's easy to use. I think the messaging function is also very well done.
I understand you have a lot of business trips and dinners. How do you manage that in terms of time?
Mr. A: I simply don't have enough time. In that respect, compared to regular dating apps, this kind of service doesn't waste time. It costs money, but I think it's suitable for people who prioritize time over money.
[Editor's Note]
The time efficiency that Mr. A is referring to here is not the result of PATOLO alone, but rather an evaluation of the entire system of this service.
The gap between the information gathered beforehand and the impression when actually meeting someone.
Now, let's move on to some points that caught my attention. When you actually met someone, did you feel that their impression differed from the information you had beforehand?
Mr. A: Yes, there have been times when I've met people through PATOLO and felt that their actual personality was different from the information I had gathered beforehand. Of course, this is based on my own experiences with people I've met, and it's not true for everyone.
Earlier, you mentioned that PATOLO doesn't currently see many cases progressing to a long-term stage. Why do you feel that it's difficult for them to progress?
Mr. A: The gap in information compared to other clubs besides Universe Club. Universe Club has a lot of information available beforehand, including videos and photos taken by the staff, so there's less of a gap when you meet in person. PATOLO has excellent communication features, but I think the accuracy of the information still needs improvement. If that improves, I think it will become a very strong service.
[From PATOLO Management]
We take your concerns about the accuracy of the information very seriously. We are currently in the development stage to improve it, and it is not yet available as a finished feature.
We are addressing the presentation of photos as a separate issue from the accuracy of the information. For the profiles of female members of our partner clubs, we are also working to ensure the photos are recent, the degree of editing is appropriate, and the shooting method is carefully considered, aiming to minimize any discrepancy between the impression you get from the photos and the impression you get when you meet them in person. This feature is still under development and is not yet available.
Prior information disclosure and how to communicate about compensation.
Before meeting someone, how much information do you think is necessary about them?
Mr. A: I think it's better to have some information beforehand so that it's less wasteful for both parties. Women will also feel more at ease if they can meet a man with some information about him. If they know beforehand, it can reduce misunderstandings.
What is the best way to release information?
Mr. A: I would appreciate it if you could provide photos and information as they are, without too much editing. I think it will ultimately be better for both of us if things are as close to reality as possible rather than trying to make them look better.
[From PATOLO Management]
We receive many inquiries in advance. However, to be honest, we cannot disclose everything because we need to protect the privacy of our female members. We value this balance. How much you know before meeting will affect how the meeting proceeds. How the first meeting goes will depend on the circumstances.Explanation about meeting each otherIntroducing.
When do you discuss compensation?
Mr. A: We don't discuss payment during the messaging stage. I'll answer if the other person asks, but to be honest, I don't really like being told before we meet. We meet on the day and discuss the terms towards the end.
What are your reasons for thinking it's better not to do it before meeting?
Mr. A: I think the fun part is meeting someone once and finding out it's not for you. I find it unnatural when the price is decided from the start. Sometimes you just get to know someone and click with them.
Have you ever had an experience where you wished you had checked something beforehand?
Mr. A: Only once. When we couldn't agree on the terms, I thought, "I should have asked about this beforehand." Other than that, there's nothing in particular.
Conversely, when would you decide not to meet or continue seeing someone?
Mr. A: I tend to avoid people who bring up money first. Also, people whose meeting times or days don't match mine, and those who are slow to reply to messages, are less likely to last.
[From PATOLO Management]
The way the compensation and conditions have been communicated up to this point is Mr. A's personal approach. Regarding the timing and method of confirming the conditions, please also refer to PATOLO's official guidelines to ensure both parties are satisfied. Regarding how to think about compensation,Basics of treatmentBut I am organizing it.
Who is this suitable for? For those just starting out.
Who do you think this would be suitable for?
Mr. A: I think it's perfect for people who prioritize time over money. I'm like that myself.
[From PATOLO Management]
To add to that, I believe that for those who want to take their time getting to know someone, a different approach might be more suitable.
If you had to tell someone who's just starting out to check one thing beforehand, what would it be?
Mr. A: I'm concerned about whether it's easy to find someone who's a good match for me, and whether there's a discrepancy between the profile information and the actual impression. That's what I expect from PATOLO, and I think it's something you should check before starting.
What do you do if you notice something concerning while looking at someone's profile?
Mr. A: I'll check with the staff. If I ask before we meet, I won't have to panic later.

[Editor's Note]
Mr. A's story can be summarized into four main points: the ability to directly exchange messages with others through the app; its compatibility with people who prioritize time over money; his experience of a discrepancy between the information he received beforehand and his actual impression of the person he met; and his hope that the accuracy of the information will improve. All of these points are based solely on Mr. A's personal experience.
